We expected a small entree size but found after sharing these generous sized dishes that we would need to visit again on the following day which was our last day in Queensland to try the other dishes that caught our eye The bugs were outstanding as was the calamari. On our first visit we ordered the tempura bugs. I visited this restaurant after reading the previous reviews and we enjoyed the experience so much that we went back the following day to watch the sunset and try some other tempting dishes on the menu. I honestly don’t recommend and please don’t consider going here!! More I could have had better food even from a local shop. We came all the way from Melbourne to expect good fish and chips from the gold coast which was even worse. If they were really a good restaurant they would care for there customers to give them good service and good food all the time. The fish and calamari was soggy, chips looked old and tasted stale. When we opened the food we were supposed to have 3 burramandi and we got only 2. We drove 20 minutes for absolute rubbish food which was overpriced for what we got in the end. Once we got our order we decided to check when we got home as it was really cold and rainy. One of the items on the menu had a box with many things but they didn’t have one of the things so they said they would replace it with burramundi. Online the pictures and reviews looked good for this. The customer service was absolutely horrible as they were rude and told us to take whatever was there or leave it.

It a very competitive spot and very crowded in the mornings. The spot is capable of double overhead size. The smaller the size the shallower it is and there is always the possibility of your fins hitting the reef on small days. Buggy borders can surf it waist high and above, but surf boarders need to surf it chest high and above, preferably head high and above because the wave breaks on a very shallow reef. Once the wind starts blowing it become a very dangerous chop. However, if you surf it early in the morning before the wind starts blowing you will be able to score this spot very frequently. It requires a unique combination of north or northwest swell with south winds to make it surfable the entire day and this is why the website says it is very inconsistent. Tube ridding is a must to be able to make the wave.
